I’m glad you’re here! READ THIS!

I’m excited that you’re helping us as we test designs and concepts for a new and improved myembarq.com. I hope this blog will become a gathering place and that you’ll come back often. You can check on our progress and share your ideas with our community of fellow users. And remember, the more you participate, the more your ideas can be used to help us to make a site that works for you. Read more about this blog and our test:

Rule for this blog

I’m going to do my best to keep you informed on how the test is going, share the feedback we receive, and ask you questions.  Of course, just by reading this blog, and reading other people’s comments, you’ll get a good idea of what they think too! The only rule is the Golden Rule. Please treat others as you would like to be treated. As long as everyone is polite and doesn’t use offensive language, we’ll all have fun!  Aside from that, if you like or don’t like something you see, don’t hold back! Tell it like it is!

About the Beta testing process

We’re testing this version of the site for about four weeks. At that point, we’ll take it down, make some changes, and then have a new “beta” ready to test drive.  At the end of the test, if you come back here you’ll be automatically redirected back to the original myembarq.com, so you’ll always have access to your email and information that you’ve come to enjoy.

Where’s the old myembarq.com?

No worries! It’s still living out in cyberspace where it’s always been. And you can visit whenever you want. If you prefer the classic site, simply go back to the test site, and look for the orange bar at the top of the page. Click on “Back to the classic site”. That’s it! You can switch back and forth between the test site and the original site throughout the trial. In fact, comparing the two and letting us know which features you prefer will help us with the improvements.

(And FYI, if you leave the test site and go to another Internet site, when you return “home” you’ll be brought back to the test site. On the other hand, if you’re on the original site and leave, you be brought back to the original the next time.)

What if you have problems?

  • We’ve set up different channels for you depending on the kind of issues you have.
  • If you have a technical problem, please click the Help link in the upper right-hand corner of the site.
  • If you can’t access the site at all, please email me at beta@embarq.com.
  • If you have a problem with your account or your HSI connection, please contact Customer Care.

These next few months are exciting for us, and I’m honestly pleased you’re a part of our development team. Keep in touch,

Ann

Just signed into the new site & have a couple ? or concerns. When I sign it – it says Welcome BUT not our name like the old site – I like the personal side. Is there a place that I can customize the site to see only things that I’m interested in – we don’t care for the traffic map, flickr local or local events. All of our customization is gone – favorite weather locations, favorite stocks. I’ll use it for a few days. Thanks

  2. Gregg says:

New site doesn’t show if you have email until you click the email icon. I would like email to indicate message on the home page like the original site. Thanks.

  3. Ann Welton says:

Hi Debra. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. You’re exactly correct, you can’t personalize this BETA the way you can the original myembarq.com. That’s not permanent though! Because this is a testing period, and we’re going to be changing the site regularly over the next few months, the personalization function won’t work. Once we settle on a final design, that functionality will be built in. Keep visiting and let me know if there are features you do like, or if anything else is missing. Have a great afternoon! Ann @Debra Ford

  4. Ann Welton says:

Gregg, Thanks for your comment. This is very helpful, and exactly what we’re looking for when it comes to constructive feedback. I’ll be sure our developers get this message. Is there anything about the site that you like better than the original?@Gregg

  5. Michael Ard says:

Here is a reach. Can Myembarq be set up to show more than one email account. I currently have 2 emails I use through embarq and it would be nice if we did not have to log in and out to switch between them. And having the name or ID show is something I like too.

    • judi seekins says:

I totally agree with Michael, it is very annoying to constantly log in and out to get into various email accounts, and of course its always on the the opposite site from the one you want.

  6. Johnna says:

I think this is a cool site. I know it will take time for some to get used to the change, but I like it. I love the tabs accross the top. It seemed to me that the radio was easier to access and came on faster and clearer. Maybe its just me. And less advertisment space. I know we have to have them, but I don’t want them to take over the page. When this site is finished, it will be very nice. Sorry I don’t have many suggestions today. If I think of anything, I’ll write. Can’t wait to see the finalized version. Keep up the good work!!

  7. Ann says:

Michael, Thanks for your post. I’m not sure of the answer to your question, so I’m going to forward it to one of the web developers. I agree that logging in and out can be tiresome! Watch this space for your answer! Ann

  8. Ann says:

Johanna, I’m so pleased you like the look of the new site! It is still a “work in progress” so you’ll see even more enhancements in the near future. Don’t worry about not having any suggestions now, but if you think of something, please let me know! Look forward to hearing from you again soon, Ann

  9. Patrick says:

Just started using the site. So far it looks like it will be very user friendly. I also would like to see more than one e-mail account, we currently use two.

  10. Dawn says:

I have visited it. It seems user friendly, I hope that when its finished, u will be able to personalize it like the old one. You know what else would be nice. a tab or column or something where u can make your own kind of like web page, where u can add maybe certain things like family pictures, or like im on meebo, and could add my meebo me messenger. Even with the old one, there is not a place where u can add extra, u can only choose what is given, there should be a other, so u can add something personal. I will keep looking back. I think i will like it though. However, tell me what u think about my suggestion.

  11. Beth says:

The tabs are a good idea. The whole page looks less cluttered–but I’m expecting that when it’s deployed with ads that will change :( That’s life on the ‘Net!
Links to Facebook, Twitter, etc.–great idea! Presumably we’ll be able to personalize boxes? For example, traffic map is good for commuters, but I will never use it & would replace it with something else–weather? movies?
Agree with those who say it would be helpful to be able to see/access more than one e-mail account from main page without logging in/out–IF desired. Not everyone wants this.

  12. Dan Gutierrez says:

All I have to say is thank you. The original embarqmail website was a mad house. Cluttered. This new website has everything without the clutter. I have not gone through all of it, but as long as I can find a button to go and pay the bill, I will be very happy with this homepage. Just like any new change, it will take a few times to get used to it. People don’t like changes but I do. Thank you again for working hard and coming out with this homepage.

  13. Ken Schulte says:

The “Local” radio station availability would be great. Is the fact that @ zip code 28532, 107.1 Talk Radio, is not available because this is a beta version?

    • Ann Welton says:

Ken. Thanks for your note. 107.1 WTKF is not currently available over the internet using RadioTime. If you know the station’s internet stream, and can provide it, we can see if we can get it added. Thanks! Ann

  14. Carolyn says:

I especially like the tabs across the top – site is more user friendly and much less cluttered. Thanks for updating the homepage – I look forward to the finished product.
